B.E.C.O.M.E. ing at fine young man!

Well, as we head into the last 8 days of school (who's counting) and the craziness that accompanies it, I wanted to be sure that I posted about an exciting honor that Alexander received last month.

Alexander was chosen as the 2010 B.E.C.O.M.E. (Business, Educators & Community Organized to Maximize Education) winner from Heritage Oak Elementary School. This awards program is sponsored by the Roseville Chamber of Commerce and honors students from local schools for participating in and leading activities that significantly contribute to the "maximization" of education in our schools and in our community.

Each school from the local districts are asked by the Educational Committee of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce to provide nominations for this award. The principal of Alexander's school asked the 5th grade staff to nominate students that they believed embodied the spirit if this particular award.

In the end, it came down to just two 5th grade students at Heritage Oak!!!

Can you guess which TWO??

You got it---Alexander AND Matthew

UGHHHHHH!!!!

It is actually a bit of a long story. Finalizing the selection to only one student was a difficult task! Their principal even went as high as the Superintendent to ask that both boys be allowed to receive the award (as it was a unanimous decision that they were equally as deserving). Without getting into all the details that surrounded the decision, let's just leave it at Mike and I could not be more PROUD of both Alexander and Matthew. Really, who wouldn't be! On so many levels they continue to impress us and make us very proud parents.

Alexander was formally recognized at the Student Recognition Awards Program held at our local high school. He proudly accepted the award presented to him by his Principal and supported by both his teacher this year and his teacher from 4th grade. In addition his proud parents and VERY SUPPORTIVE brother cheered him on from the audience!

Way to go Zander! We love you bud!!
